The programme supports the contemporary artistic creation, stimulating its research and development by hosting two residencies for EMERGING ARTISTS. It provides to the selected projects conditions for its development during one month. O Rumo do Fumo offers: financial support, rehearsal studio, artistic counselling and organization of a work-in-progress presentation at Espaço da Penha.
KDEIRAZ by Natália Mendonça and Dani Barra
KDEIRAZ enters the children's universe investigating photoperformance as a procedural tool in dance to problematize the excessive use of the chair in our daily lives. “In the end, we ended up spending our lives sitting in a chair eating, studying, working, talking and looking at a multitude of screens. In the history of the human species, we are drastically changing the way we (not) move, and the body pays for it " - Vybarr Cregan-Reid. The work intends to investigate the deprogramming of the monotonous choreography of sit X stand, through situations that provoke creation of extraordinary relationships between the human being and the chair.
Apocalypse Among Friends or Simply the Day by Julián Pacomio
For a long time we’ve been going to bed early. We are people of the day, night is someone else’s business. We wait for the apocalypse together, all of us, here. At some point the familiar, the intimate, will become unsettling, and the end will come peacefully, so kind.
Something dark will emerge to the surface incriminating life, and nothing will be the same; memories, those of passed times, will no longer matter; only the strongest ones will, that is, those of now. We will never be contemporary again and only daylight will remain, as simple as that.
[…] this doesn’t make sense but the rest doesn’t make sense but the rest is death.
