Teresa Silva
Teresa Silva (Lisbon, 1988) is an artist whose work unfolds across performance, creation, and research in dance. She trained at the Escola de Dança do Conservatório Nacional, the Escola Superior de Dança, and PEPCC — the Study, Research and Choreographic Creation Programme at Forum Dança. She is currently undertaking a Master’s degree in Expressive Arts Therapy, Trauma and Embodiment (EC-EXATT®).
She understands dance as a field of experience and knowledge that extends beyond the physical body, a perspective that translates into a practice centred on attention, care, and sensitivity, as well as a transdisciplinary approach to movement. Her trajectory has been shaped by collaborations with a wide range of artists and by the creation of formats and frameworks that seek to generate reflection, knowledge, and transformation through performative experience.
Since 2008, she has performed in around twenty works and developed approximately fifteen creations. As a performer and co-creator, her collaborations include work with Vera Mantero, Loïc Touzé, João dos Santos Martins, the collective La Tierce, Kristina Norman, David Marques, and Marco D’Agostin, among others.
Among her works are “Por motivo de Força Maior”, selected as one of the best pieces of the year by the newspapers Público and Expresso; “Um pequeno exercício de composição”, co-created with Vera Mantero; the works co-created with Filipe Pereira, “Letting Nature Take Over Us Again”, “O que fica do que passa”, and “Nova Criação”; “Leva a mão que eu levo o braço” and “Um Espanto não se Espera”, both created in collaboration with Elizabete Francisca and winners of the Young Creators Competition; “A vida enorme / La vie en or”, co-created with Maria Lemos; and the solo “Ocooo”.
Her work has been presented in a wide range of contexts, including the Portuguese Performing Arts Platform, the [8] Young Choreographers’ Series at ImPulsTanz Festival, Aerowaves Spring Forward, the Venice Biennale, FID — Festival International de Cinéma de Marseille, Festival Materiais Diversos, Culturgest, Guidance Festival, Circular Festival, Dias da Dança Festival, the Serralves Foundation, and Teatro do Bairro Alto.
In 2024, she was a guest artist in the EM CASA programme at Estúdios Victor Córdon, and the Serralves Foundation dedicated a cycle to her choreographic work entitled “A dança a descer das nossas cabeças”. Alongside her stage work, she has developed projects, laboratories, and encounter-based formats situated at the intersection of research, practice, and performance. These include “Pode o corpo ser um oráculo?”, with Sara Anjo; “Estados de atenção e cuidado através da prática performativa”; “Fazer falar o fazer”, with David Marques; and “Ah! — a prática artística enquanto ferramenta de transformação”.
She was an associate artist at Materiais Diversos and O Espaço do Tempo. She is currently represented by Agência 25 and is an artist supported by O Rumo do Fumo.
