In the near future, citizens are prepared to survive a potential collapse of society for 72 hours without organised assistance from the State. At a testing centre, three citizens undergo physical, cognitive and behavioural tests until an Exceptional Event turns the exercise into a real-life situation. When protocols fail to provide answers, citizens are confronted with the limits of autonomy taken to the extreme. Somewhere between dystopian fiction and disaster comedy, ‘Battery 72’ pits the State’s ambition for total protection against the unpredictability of an increasingly uncertain future.
