LUPA - The Adventure of Emotions is an emotional education programme created by Escola das Emoções to develop social and emotional skills in pre-school and primary school children in formal and informal educational contexts. The programme consists of 32 sessions throughout the school year, which promote, in a playful and creative way, each child's ability to know themselves, express themselves and understand diversity without judgement or exclusion. In 2018, our application for this programme was approved by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and we joined the Gulbenkian Knowledge Academies, where we validated our methodology with the mentoring of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra.

Programme content
Through games, activities, pair work, group work and individual work, we aim to help children
in the process of identifying, understanding and managing their emotions, setting and achieving positive goals, feeling and showing empathy for others, establishing and maintaining positive relationships, and making responsible decisions.

Henrique Furtado Vieira
Henrique Furtado Vieira is a dancer, performer and choreographer who has presented his work at national and international institutions. In recent years, he has deepened his interest in teaching children and teenagers through workshops and educational projects carried out throughout the country. As an emotional education facilitator, he is certified by the LUPA programme of the School of Emotions and has training in non-violent communication, with a special focus on its application with children. He believes that education is, above all, a process of self-knowledge and mutual listening. As the father of Leonor, he sees parenting as a daily practice of presence and empathy, and a constant invitation to cultivate fuller and more harmonious relationships. He brings to his work a combination of artistic sensitivity, emotional listening and a desire to contribute to human development, seeking to create spaces for relationship and expression where each child can feel safe, seen and valued.

Luz Maior
I have been a facilitator for the LUPA – The Adventure of Emotions programme since 2022 and have various skills in the field of personal development, which have equipped me with the abilities of self-knowledge, self-management and self-regulation, enabling me to be aware of my state at all times and thus respond appropriately to challenges by adopting the most appropriate behaviours. In addition to skills in the area of positive family communication, I have training in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, which has provided me with numerous valuable tools for the area of emotional education. I am currently in the process of obtaining international certification in Transpersonal Therapy at Nova - Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, which is allowing me to leverage my knowledge in neuroscience, psychology and hypnotherapy. In addition to these areas, I have knowledge and practice in meditation, yoga and Reiki, as well as the important fact that I am the mother of two young people who were my motivation to pursue these areas of knowledge. Currently, I run sessions of the LUPA programme - The Adventure of Emotions in the Amadora region, in which children can discover, locate and name their emotions in a relaxed and natural way, by feeling them in their own bodies, through their senses.
‘My mission is to guide children in discovering their emotions.’
